Our Assessment

The Browning Hi Power began as one of John Browning’s final design efforts and was completed by Dieudonné Saive at Fabrique Nationale after Browning’s death in 1926. The pistol’s 13 round magazine capacity gave rise to the Hi Power name and made it one of the most advanced service pistols of its era.

When Germany invaded Belgium in 1940, FN production continued under occupation. Early occupation pistols retained features such as tangent sights and stock slots, along with German inspection marks including WaA613. Later wartime production simplified these features to increase output. This 1940 example falls squarely within the early occupation range and remains matching throughout.

With strong original finish, matching numbers, and desirable tangent sight configuration, this Hi Power stands as an important and collectible WWII sidearm.
