The extended slide and compensator add weight out front, helping tame recoil from the full power 10mm cartridge and providing a longer sight radius for improved precision.

Overall, the grips rate in Fine to Excellent condition.

Finish and Overall Condition

Type of Finish: Matte Stainless Steel

This handgun retains approximately 93 percent of its metal finish. The matte stainless surfaces show rubs and scuffs that have resulted in small smooth spots. There are draglines, light edge thinning, and standard operational wear.

Screw heads are sharp and markings are clear. Overall, the pistol rates in Fine condition.

Bore Condition

The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. In the writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.

The action functions correctly. The slide moves smoothly with slight play to the frame, typical of many longslide 1911 variants intended for field use. The pistol was not test fired. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be desired to meet personal maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork, and Accessories

Includes three Colt 8 round magazines.

Our Assessment

The Javelina is essentially a longslide evolution of the classic 1911 pattern, retaining familiar controls such as the left side thumb safety, grip safety, and slide stop, while adding a skeletonized trigger with over travel adjustment and adjustable rear sight.

The 10mm Auto cartridge, originally championed by Col. Jeff Cooper, was designed to offer flatter trajectory and greater energy than the .45 ACP. Though its popularity fluctuated over the decades, it has remained a favorite among 1911 enthusiasts and shooters who appreciate its performance for hunting and defensive applications.

Production of the Javelina Longslide was limited, with IAI manufacturing these models from 1990 to 1991 and AMT briefly continuing production in 1992. Examples have become increasingly difficult to locate, particularly in solid mechanical condition.

This stainless 10mm longslide remains in Fine condition with a strong bore and correct mechanics. For collectors of 10mm 1911 variants or shooters seeking a distinctive longslide platform, this Javelina stands out as a notable example from the early modern era of the cartridge’s revival.
