Our Assessment
The Ruger Redhawk was Ruger’s first large-frame double-action revolver and quickly earned a reputation for strength, durability, and the ability to handle powerful cartridges. Designed by Harry Sefried, the Redhawk was intended as a serious working revolver, suitable for hunting, defense in the field, and heavy use.
This 1985 example is chambered in the often-overlooked but highly respected .41 Remington Magnum, a cartridge known for its balance of power, penetration, and controllability. With its long 7.5-inch barrel, strong bore, and high remaining finish, this revolver presents as a solid representative of Ruger’s classic big-bore revolver era. It would make a strong addition to a Ruger collection or serve as a capable hunting or field sidearm.
